I got into thrifting because of my mom. She used to take my sister and me to Goodwill when we were kids, and at the time we complained the whole way there. It wasn't until I was older and started noticing how expensive everything had gotten that I understood what she was doing. Somewhere along the way, I became genuinely attached to older pieces. They tend to have more character, better craftsmanship, and they hold up in a way most new furniture doesn't. A home built around older things ends up looking like nobody else's.
Vintage Moon Antiques grew out of a simple idea: most of what people want already exists somewhere, it just needs to be found. That's the part I enjoy, so you don't have to spend your weekends working through estate sales, antique shops, and thrift stores yourself. Friends have always said I have a knack for finding the right piece no matter where we go. Now that's what I do for other people, without the markup you'd expect from a typical antique shop.
I believe the best things already exist. My job is finding them.
My goal is to show people they can build a home they love around pieces that already exist, instead of buying something new and mass-produced. A silver platter becomes a vanity tray. A set of glass pie dishes becomes a planter tray. A few mismatched frames become a gallery wall. It's less about following a specific style and more about being thoughtful with what you bring into your space. That mindset naturally leans toward sustainability, giving something a second life instead of letting it end up in a landfill.
You spend a lot on rent or a mortgage, so your space should actually feel good to live in. That's what I want for everyone I work with: a home that feels like you, built one thrifted or repurposed piece at a time. Right now, that means sourcing booth by booth and sale by sale, with a lot of patience. It's not unusual for me to find a frame at one Goodwill and its match, in a different size, weeks later at a completely different store. Longer term, I'd like to offer full gallery wall curation and help people feel more comfortable decorating outside their usual style, the same way I had to for myself. Almost everything in my own home is thrifted or secondhand at this point, and I'd like that to be true for more people.
